Hair band, scrunchie, bun wreath - it doesn't matter what you call it when you need one, you NEED one. Why not make it a stylish one? This crochet pattern makes easy ruffles with a simple repeating stitch. Perfect for a beginner project.

Cover a basic hair elastic with yarn and be gentle on your hair while making a colourful statement.

Use any yarn and an appropriate sized hook. These ones were made with Vinnis Colours Nikkim yarn and 4mm hook, using max 15g per scrunchie.

BASIC PATTERN (the green scrunchie)

Round 1: Approx. 42 SC around a basic hair band (5cm diameter). SS into 1st stitch to close. Stitch count doesn't matter, keep going until you have covered your hairband with no gaps showing.

Round 2: (optional - switch colours). SC. 3 DC into every stitch, back loops only until you reach the 1st SC again.

Round 3: (optional - switch colours). Work 3 DC into every stitch in the FRONT loops now. Continue round until you have worked into each stitch TWICE (making one set of 3 DC in the back loop and one set of 3 DC in the front loop). Join with a SS and tie off. Weave ends in.

ALTERNATIVE RUFFLES PATTERN (the blue scrunchie)
