Winter Yarns

Autumn and winter...a wonderful time of the year with crisp mornings and chilly evenings. It is the yarnies time to shine! Blankets, hats, scarves, jerseys, boot cuffs, afghans, neck warmers, gloves, mittens, ponchos...get making!

I'm sure when you think 'winter' you think 'WOOL'...that's totally true and we have a lovely selection of pure wool and wool blends... but have you considered OTHER yarns? Maybe a MOHAIR? light and airy but oh so warm. Or what about a chunky COTTON. yes that's right - COTTON! A thick or textured cotton can make a wonderful, non bulky wearable item that warms to your body. 

You could also hold 2 strands of yarn (2 different types or different colours?) together when knitting or doing crochet. It makes a thicker yarn in a completely new combination (just use a bigger hook or needle to keep it from getting toooo bulky). As a guide 2 x DK strands = 1 Chunky strand. 2 x Aran or chunky = 1 Super Chunky.
